OENEO has been involved in research and development for decades. Its first breakthrough occurred in the early 1980s, when it patented the first peroxide washing process. The process eliminated the use of chlorine in the treatment of corks, quickly becoming the standard in our industry.

The company then introduced two closures, Evolution and Reference, that addressed oxidation, leakage and taint issues, but which also offered improved permeability or gas exchange, which we know has en effect on how the wine will age over time.

Then OENEO revolutionized the industry again with the patented DIAMANT process and the DIAM closure. A visually similar product, DIAM has the added benefit of having immeasurable levels of releasable TCA (under 0.5 ng/L), in every lot, in every cork: another first in the industry. Although many other cork suppliers have been able to lower the level of releasable TCA in their closures, none have achieved this level of security.
